ED consults by Florida telehealth
ED consults anywhere in Florida. Cause first.
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is trouble getting or keeping an erection firm enough for sex, and because it can be an early sign of cardiovascular, metabolic or hormonal disease, it deserves a medical evaluation. Clear Men's Health, a physician-led Tampa clinic, offers private ED consults and follow-ups by telehealth anywhere in Florida while you are physically in the state, and considers treatment, including FDA-approved medication options, only after an evaluation, safety screening and any labs your evaluation calls for.

Why it matters
Why can ED be a sign of heart disease?
Because erections depend on healthy blood vessels, ED can show up before other signs of cardiovascular or metabolic disease. That makes it worth a medical evaluation, not just a quick prescription.
- Can be an early marker of cardiovascular and metabolic disease
- Often linked to hormones, sleep, stress, or medication side effects
- Worth a real evaluation — not just a quick prescription
Causes
What causes erectile dysfunction?
Often more than one thing. Erections depend on blood vessels, nerves, hormones and mood working together, so ED can come from vascular, metabolic or hormonal disease, from nerve damage such as after prostate surgery, from sleep, stress or depression, or as a side effect of medications.
The evaluation
Can ED be evaluated by telehealth in Florida?
Yes. The conversation, your history and your medication review can happen in a private telehealth visit anywhere in Florida while you are physically in the state, and any labs are drawn in person at a draw site near you.
Your evaluation is a private conversation guided by a clinician who has had it hundreds of times: your history, your medications, your sleep and stress, and targeted labs where they're actually useful — glucose, lipids, morning testosterone.
You set the pace. Nothing intimate is ever requested through a web form, and nothing you share leaves your care.
- Private history and medication review
- Targeted labs only where they add real information
- Screening for contributing conditions — vascular, hormonal, metabolic
Treatment pathways
What are the treatment options for erectile dysfunction?
Depending on what we find, options can include lifestyle and training changes, FDA-approved medications such as PDE5 inhibitors, hormone evaluation and treatment where indicated, or referral for counseling when the drivers are psychological. Some men need one of these; many need a combination.
What's right for you depends on your evaluation — including safety screening, since ED medications are unsafe with certain heart medications. Nothing is prescribed before that work is done.
PDE5 inhibitors are a class of medicines, and specific sildenafil and tadalafil products are FDA-approved to treat erectile dysfunction. They are considered only after the evaluation and safety screening.
- Lifestyle, training, and sleep — the foundation
- FDA-approved medication options, with safety screening first
- Hormone workup where indicated
- Referral for counseling when that's the right tool
Medication safety
Are ED medications safe with heart medications?
Not always, which is why screening comes before any prescription here. PDE5 inhibitors must never be taken with nitrate medicines such as nitroglycerin, whether taken daily or only as needed, with recreational "poppers" (amyl or butyl nitrite), or with riociguat or other guanylate cyclase stimulators, because together they can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
They also need care alongside alpha-blockers, which are often used for blood pressure or prostate symptoms, because the combination can lower blood pressure too. And they are not used by men whose heart is not healthy enough for sexual activity.
- Chest pain after taking an ED medicine: call 911, and tell the emergency staff which one you took and when, because it changes which heart medicines they can safely give
- An erection lasting more than four hours: get emergency care
- Sudden loss or dimming of vision in one or both eyes, or a sudden drop in or loss of hearing: stop taking it and get emergency care
Privacy
Is ED care private?
Yes. Consults are private, by telehealth or in the office, the website's forms never ask for intimate details, and nothing you share is used for marketing.
What has to happen in person for ED care?
Care here is available two ways: in person at our Tampa office, or by telehealth. Consultations and follow-up visits can be either — whichever suits you.
Blood draws and any hands-on examination are done in person, because they cannot be done any other way.
Telehealth visits require you to be physically located in Florida at the time of the visit.
Questions
Questions about ED consults
Do I need an in-person exam for ED treatment?
Consults and follow-ups can be by telehealth anywhere in Florida. If your clinician needs a hands-on exam, it happens in person, and you are told what and why before anything is booked; any labs are drawn at a draw site near you.
Can I take ED medication if I use nitrates?
No. PDE5 inhibitors must never be combined with nitrate medicines such as nitroglycerin, or with recreational "poppers", because together they can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Tell your clinician about every medication you take, including ones used only as needed.
Will you check my testosterone level?
Yes, when your history calls for it. Low testosterone can contribute to erectile difficulties and low libido, so a morning testosterone level is checked when your evaluation points to it. It is rarely the whole story on its own.
What if ED medication hasn't worked for me before?
Then the evaluation matters even more. Your clinician looks at what was tried, how it was taken, and what else may be contributing, from blood vessels and hormones to sleep, stress and other medications, before discussing options.
Can I be seen by telehealth if I live outside Tampa Bay?
Yes, anywhere in Florida. Telehealth visits require you to be physically located in Florida at the time of the visit. Men in the Tampa Bay area can also choose a private visit at the office.
Which labs are checked for ED?
Only labs that add real information, chosen from your history: for example glucose or A1c, lipids, and a morning testosterone level. Any draw is done in person, at a draw site near you.
